The product combines a Java(tm) applet which is embedded into the client web page via a single URL, with our server-side middleware which handles authentication and communination with external payment gateways.

The web author calls the URL for the applet at the end of shoping-cart processing and passes simple values to the applet including the value to be debited from the consumer's account and a post-transaction URL to a custom receipt page.

Communication from the consumer's browser uses SSL piggybacking on the browser's own encryption engine. The middleware component establishes contact with remote payment gateways via either an encrypted and authenticated tunnel (128bit), or via private leased lines.

The Legion eMerchant product is the easiest way to integrate card clearing with any application platform (including asp, php3, perl) under any O/S. Client browsers down to Netscape 2.0 and IE3 are supported.
